Dear Colleagues,

This is a reminder that the final submission date for abstracts for this year’s Seminar for Arabian Studies Conference is the 15th of February 2010.

If you wish to offer a paper for consideration by the Steering Committee, please send a 200-word abstract to arrive either before or on the 15th of February 2010 to seminar.arab@durham.ac.uk or write to the Seminar for Arabian Studies, c/o The British Museum, Middle East Department, Great Russell Street, London, WC1B 3DG, England. Abstracts submitted after the deadline may be accepted, rejected or suggested as a poster contribution at the discretion of the organizers. The abstract must include:

1) the name(s) and full contact details (affiliation(s)) of the contributor(s)

2) the title of the proposed paper

3) set out what the paper intends to cover

4) the approach it will take

5) indicate the significance of the topic

Presentations are 20 minutes in length followed by 5 minutes of questions

Due to the limited time available for the programme, and the increasing number of abstracts we receive there is no guarantee that all papers will be accepted. As in previous years we can normally only accept one paper from any given project.

All abstracts received by the February deadline will be considered by the Steering Committee and will be selected on the basis of quality, originality, and importance of the topic.

Details of the Seminar will be posted on our website soon (www.arabianseminar.org.uk) and further information will be sent out in April, once the provisional programme has been organized.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Ardle MacMahon (Secretary, Seminar for Arabian Studies)
