- The first seminar (January
1969)
On
6th January 1969, what was to be the first Seminar for Arabian Studies
was held at the Institute of Archaeology, London University.
Five papers were delivered at the first Seminar. Summaries of these were
published in the Bulletin of the Institute of Archaeology of London
University 8-9, 1968-1969: 243-258, immediately following the first
part of Parr, Harding and Dayton's 'Report on the Preliminary Survey in
N.W. Arabia, 1968'. These were reprinted, with the same pagination, as
introductory material to PSAS 1-3 (1970-1973).
The papers were as follows:
M.S. Drower, Early connections between Sumer and Egypt (pages 243-247).
E. Sollberger, The problem of Magan and Meluhha (pages 247-250).
P.J. Parr, The Nabataeans in north-west Arabia (pages 250-253).
J.E. Dayton, The city of Teima and the land of Edom (pages 253-256).
B. Doe, Southern Arabia (pages 256-258).
